About Me
The Journey from Employee to Award-Winning Entrepreneur—And Why I Help Others Do the Same
I spent years climbing the corporate ladder—personnel benefits manager, business operations manager, IT manager—always focused on the bottom line, always trading time for money. I was good at it. And something was missing.

In November 2010, my brother Donovan and I took a leap. We opened Coffee at The Point, a 3,000-square-foot coffee and wine lounge in Denver's historic Five Points neighborhood. It wasn't just a business, it became a community hub, a gathering place, and proof that you could build something meaningful on your own terms.

Over the next several years, we earned over 13 local and national awards, including Denver's 2018 Small Business of the Year, Denver A-List Winner, and Coffee Fest's Top 5 America's Best Coffeehouse. We scaled the business, created jobs, and ultimately exited successfully, something most entrepreneurs never achieve.

And here's what I learned: the skills that made me successful in corporate America were the same ones I needed to build a thriving business. Leadership. Strategy. Systems. The only difference? I was finally working for myself.

That realization changed everything.

From Building Businesses to Building Business Builders
After exiting Coffee at The Point, I didn't just walk away from entrepreneurship, I went deeper. I led statewide initiatives supporting small businesses through funding, technical assistance, and accelerator programs, focusing on underserved communities. I've helped hundreds of entrepreneurs navigate the overwhelming gap between having expertise and generating income.

I also continued coaching, not just in business, and on the basketball court for 20 years, where I led my team to the Boys Basketball 5A State Championship in 2005-2006. Coaching taught me how to develop talent, create systems that win, and help people achieve more than they thought possible. Those same principles apply to building a business.

Why I Do This Work
I've sat in both chairs. I've been the employee wondering if there's more. I've been the entrepreneur figuring it out as I go. I've built, scaled, and exited. I've failed, pivoted, and succeeded.
Now, I help career professionals from corporate, education, and nonprofit backgrounds do what I did: turn their leadership expertise into a thriving coaching or consulting business, and land their first clients within 90 days.

If you've spent years building someone else's dream and you're ready to build your own, I'll show you exactly how to make it happen, without the guesswork, without the overwhelm, and without sacrificing the expertise you've already earned.

Community & Service
Beyond my business work, I've served on numerous nonprofit boards and civic commissions, including the Colorado Children's Campaign, Five Points Business Improvement District, Civic Canopy, and Denver's school boards. I was appointed by the Governor of Colorado to serve as a Commissioner on the 2nd Judiciary Nominating Commission and by the Mayor of Denver to serve on the Denver Urban Renewal Authority Commission (DURA).

I hold a BS in Computer Information Systems/Management Science and an MBA.
But more than the credentials, I'm a father, a community builder, and someone who believes that the best way to create change is to empower others to build something that matters.

Let's build yours.
